About the House

A traditional three storey Victorian townhouse set in the beautiful old town of Saltburn-by-the-Sea. The property is a 5 to 10 minute walk from the beach and just a few minutes walk from the main high street shops and cafes. Built around 1899-1901, the house offers five bedrooms (three ensuite) and provides spacious accommodation across three storeys. There is a small private courtyard area to the rear set with planting.

An ideal location for accessing the North Yorkshire Moors and coastline, the town of Saltburn has a cosmopolitan assortment of cafes and restaurants. Enjoy a famous crab brioche or fish and chips at the celebrated pier Fish restaurant or soak up the atmosphere of the ancient Ship Inn smugglers pub overlooking Huntcliff and the sea. Within a 35 minute drive of Whitby and a similar distance to the stations of Grosmont, Goathland and Pickering - you can travel back in time on the steam railway and see where Harry Potter was filmed..

Saltburn itself has its own miniature railway and mini golf on the seafront. With quaint beach huts and surf schools there is plenty to keep the family entertained. You can also enjoy beautiful wooded walks in the Valley Gardens which lead on to the North Yorkshire Moors eventually and is also the start of the Cleveland Way.

The Victorian Lounge & Marble Fireplace

The south facing spacious lounge is an ideal place to unwind and relax. The room has a tall three metre high ceiling, typical of the period, and has many original features.

The Victorian Lounge is a lovely place to catch the warmth from the day’s sunshine which pours through the large bay windows or cosy down for the evening in front of the imposing marble fireplace.

Kitchen, Dining, and the Outdoor Terrace

The house has a spacious combined breakfast room and kitchen, an ideal place to have a small meal or cook while chatting to friends and family. The breakfast room has a sofa which looks out onto the Outdoor Terrace and the green space created there.

The kitchen is well-equipped with all modern amenities including dishwasher, washer, dryer, double oven and microwave. The large Victorian windows overlook the Outdoor Terrace and its planted areas.

In addition there is a separate dining room which also overlooks the Outdoor Terrace through full height patio doors. The room is particularly lovely for entertaining in the evening and having a connecting door to the kitchen, this gives quick access for serving food.

The Outdoor Terrace, has various planters with trees and shrubs, including a Victorian bath planted with greenery, creating a calm green space, particularly pleasant late afternoon/early evening as the space tends to have built up the warmth of a summers day but remains cool on those gorgeous blue sky days of summer. A shed area is an ideal location to store bikes ready for adventures along the coast or across the moors, with access via a door which gives leads to the streets just off the main town a few minutes away.

Bedrooms & Bathrooms

There are three spacious double ensuite bedrooms and a large twin bedroom, together with a smaller single bedroom, spread across two floors. One of the ensuite bathrooms has “Jack and Jill” doors which allow it to be used as a standalone bathroom.

All beds are provided with Hotel grade linen which is professionally laundered before arrival. The Victorian Seahouse uses a British bathroom products supplier to the Hotel industry called Noble Isle. One of our favourite fragrances from the range that we use in the bathrooms is called “Rhubarb Rhubarb” which has provenance for the rhubarb from a farm located nearby in Yorkshire.

The top floor bedroom has a spacious loft feel and has sea glimpses from one of the Velux windows. It has a Kingsize bed and also a Daybed/sofa that can be set up as two singles. The room is decorated in a nautical theme to reflect the seaside nature of the location. The room is also fabulous at night for watching the stars through the large Velux Windows.

On the ground floor there is an additional toilet cloakroom.
